People mostly visit Lombok for the delicious food, friendly people, relaxed atmosphere and natural, untouched scenery. There are countless numbers of beaches to explore on the island, so where should you start? This guide will help you discover some of the most stunning beaches on Lombok Island.
Tanjung Aan
If your idea of the perfect beach is white sands, turquoise waters and palm trees, then look no further than Tanjung Aan. Arguably one of the most picturesque beaches on Lombok Island, this place is located on the south coast of the island. It is a huge bay with little shacks and fishing boats dotted along the coast. There is a large hill acting as a headland separating the bay from the one next to it; it is worth exploring – the views from up here are breathtaking.
Selong Belanak
This stunning beach has been voted top 10 beaches in Asia.
This beach vast stretches of sand and azure blue waters are an ideal spot for swimming, sunbathing, surfing and beach volley.
If you are lucky, you might even see the local buffaloes go for their stroll a long the beach as the venture to their next feeding grounds.
There are plenty of little cafes, souvenir stalls, surfboard rentals and vendors selling snacks like ice cream, barbecued corn and coconuts. It’s a stunning spot to catch the beautiful sunset.
Mawun Beach
Mawun Beach, with equally blue waters and white sands – but no crowds, so you will only ever have to share this beach with a handful of people. Nestled between lofty hills, it is a peaceful, hidden bay in the shape of a horseshoe. The centre of the bay has larger waves and deeper water, whereas the edges of the bay are much calmer to swim in. There are only a few places to buy food and drink here, so it may be a good idea to take a picnic.
Mawi Beach
Famous amongst surfers, this gorgeous cove is a treasure of Southern Lombok.
The surf break is a haven for intermediate to advance surfers. The water is warm and crystal clear.
The road to this beach is quite the adventure and you will need to be a good rider to access this beach. But it is well worth it, as you will be blown away by the sheer raw beauty of this place.
Pink Beach
Yes… you heard right. Lombok has some beaches with pink sand.
Located on the utmost south-eastern tip of the island, this is one of the most remote beaches on Lombok Island Its name comes from the coral that gives the sand a pinkish hue. There is also a climbable hill at one end of the bay which gives stunning views over the crystal clear water. This area is known for its colourful underwater life, and there is the option of hiring a guide and a boat to take you snorkelling.
Kuta Mandalika Beach
Kuta Mandlalika Beach, renowned as one of Bali’s most famous beaches, pales in comparison when you discover the breathtaking beauty of Kuta Beach Lombok. Nestled along Lombok’s southern coast, this radiant beach boasts immaculate white sand and a more undulating coastline adorned with vibrant reefs, evoking a truly stunning spectacle.
Stretching across 7.2 kilometers, this coastline features gentle hills, notably Mandalika Hill, situated beside the beach. Legend has it that the hill derives its name from the tale of Princess Mandalika, who leapt from its heights to evade suitors vying for her hand in marriage.
